Melanie Kreitler is a postdoctoral researcher in Literary, Cultural, and Media Studies at the University of Giessen, Germany. Her research interests include narrative complexity across media, with a focus on films and videogames, critical approaches to empathy, and the intersections of cultural and media discourses. She is the author of Mental Illness and Narrative Complexity: An Experiential Approach to Puzzle Films and Complex Television (EUP, 2025) and is the co-editor of Diversity Issues in the USA (transcript, 2024) and the special issues “Illness, Narrated” (2021) and “Queer Politics in Media and Legal Cultures” (2024).

Marta Lopera-Mármol is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Communication at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where she is also a member of the TECMERIN-UC3M research group. She holds a PhD in Communication (Cum Laude) from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), awarded with international distinction following research stays at the University of Cambridge and Sorbonne Nouvelle III. She also holds a Master of Research in Social Communication (Cum Laude) from UPF and a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Barcelona.

Lopera-Mármol has taught at various universities and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters published in indexed academic journals. Her research focuses on ecocinema, representations of mental disorders, and television series.
