This article analyses the character of Elizabeth II in the series The Crown in relation to the myth of the double or doppelgänger through the series’ narrative text. It examines the first three seasons of the series and identifies three stages of doppelgängerism through which the character of the Queen passes from her accession to the throne in 1947 to the 25th anniversary of her coronation in 1977. We contend that, through this narrative device, the series transcends the individual and connects her to a broader vision encompassing the concept of the monarchy. To this end, the series presents "the Crown" as a character with its own identity, closely intertwined with that of the Queen, functioning as her double. From the internal division it causes within the Queen and the resulting identity struggles, a powerful reflection emerges on the coexistence of monarchy and modernity. From this perspective, both the structure of the series and the development of its characters acquire greater significance.
